First licensed in 1980, Dale grew up and still resides in Lancaster County, PA. After college he served for three years as a mission worker in the country of Zaire (now Congo). It was there that he became interested first in SWL, and then those strange Donald Duck sounds on the HF bands. Dale quickly became interested in DXing contesting, and especially DXpeditioning. Dale has been an active contester since 1981 and presently serves as the vice-president of the Frankford Radio Club.

   Employed by the U.S. EPA, Dale is active in promoting an environmentally friendly lifestyle, and is the proud owner of a new Toyota Prius
But his real life-work has been his work with refugees. Beginning with the "sanctuary movement" which helped Central Americans in danger to find safety, Dale opened his home to scores of refugees, He sponsored (on his own) several Amerasian families who are now a productive part of our society. He has recently taken guardianship (and sponsorship) for four teenage "sons" from Southern Sudan. These boys are really special, and their appreciation is so genuine, despite the great suffering they have seen as part of the well-documented "Lost Boys of Sudan"

   Dale enjoys travel (particularly if there is a radio involved) and helping others obtain the excitement and enjoyment that amateur radio has brought him. For more information about amateur radio see the link below. {link to ham radio description}
